Discussion Synopsis

Treasurer

  • Budget 2026–27
    • The fiscal year ends on 30 June, so the budget plan has to be finished by the end of June.
    • The budget documents should be sent to the Department Coordinators around mid-May. They should have about two weeks to fill in the sheets together with their teams.
    • There is also a reworked version of the budget sheet for the next year. This version should make the process easier, more robust, more consistent, and less confusing for the teams.
    • In June, there should be a special budget plan meeting instead of a regular Board meeting. The date has to be agreed with the rest of the Board.
    • After the budget plan is finished and accepted by the Board, we should publish an article in the Leadership Blog.
    • After the fiscal year ends, the financial reports should be published here:

  • Citibank
    • After a long back and forth, the latest status is that Danielle Hlatki is taking care of this topic. 
    • The current deadline is tomorrow. We should follow up with Danielle and ask for an update.
  • Venable Invoice

Production Department

  • CMS Maintainer Online-Sprint on Saturday June 7, 2026 to remove deprecations from the code for Joomla 7.0, - over 25 PRs for 7.0 merged. A Magazine article will follow. Extension developers should test early!
  • Critical Security problem with JCE - David (Security Team) worked together with the developer.

  • JWC - Shall we make a Board Sprint on Thursday Oct 15?

What other teams will have a sprint there on Thursday? We have reserved rooms at the location with full coverage (meal, lunch,...). Teams will need to plan this for the budget. Please plan and don’t let the chance slip!

Outreach Department

  • Update on redesign project. After a meeting last week where differing views were aired and a member left the group, we were able to restructure the working group into JORG relaunch base camp plus 3 smaller groups focussed on Portal Architecture, Structure and Content and Design & Template with only those expressing an interest or specialism coming into the sub-groups. Currently exploring reducing the number of Joomla properties to make the sites more manageable.
  • Merch store. I’ve contacted around 10 potential suppliers/fulfillment companies that we could partner with to connect to our proposed new J2C store. The reality is we could have more than one to keep shipping costs low so exploring that idea too.

  • JWC - Outreach Sprint. The idea has been raised that there is the opportunity to have an Outreach sprint on day 1of JWC which would give us the opportunity to finish what we began in Paris or tackle additional challenges that have come to light since.
  • JWC - Sponsor I introduced one of my freelancers (who trades as Joomconsultant.org) who’d asked about being sponsoring. He has chosen to support JWC as an extension sponsor.
  • STF Press Release After discussions with the secretary, I drafted a press release for the STF grant.

 

Operations Department

  • Waiting for confirmation for the Mattermost User Case questions.
  • Rochen deployed a new server with DokPloy as requested by some members for the Jorg redesign project. They are an amazing partner!!
  • Sent a reply to the former president about her data enquiry.

Vice President

  • U.N. Open Source Week participation document as suggested by Sigrid

  • Scalahosting in motion on their end, expected agreement by end of June. (see email).
  • Initially a request from the JED Team from OSM around:
    • Can we allow sites (or extensions pointing to a site) on the JED that offer commercial extensions from other developers, some still active like Akeeba's Admin Tools Pro, simply because they are for Joomla 3 or Joomla 4?
    • The initial request is now just informational for the Board. Hopefully the new document will help contextualize and make it easier/clearer for both extension developers + the JED team.
  • For review in the coming days, 2 versions of the Formal Letter to previously active  Joomla italian community member in regards to use of Joomla trademark. Reply sent.

Secretary

  • Semi-annual meeting in two weeks.
  • Mid-year election timing and details (open positions, re-runs, etc.).
  • JWC attendance; when and how to arrange travel and be reimbursed for it.

President

  • Report from the Wordcamp, at least two possible sponsors found, lots of nice contacts
    • In various sessions I always heard that reddit is very important to be visible to AI, we should do something on reddit…
  • I met organizers of the cmsconf taking place in poland this year in November in Gdynia, Poland convinced them that Joomla is important to be there as a speaker, they already have all speaker slots taken but because of what we talked they try to add some slots at the end of the day to include also Joomla. I would love to be there as a speaker.
  • Report Meeting with Rochen from Wednesday
    • Talked to Chris about the Sponsorship they offer us and the long term partnership
    • Offered a various activities to get them more visible 
    • Larger representation in the footer is a wish for the redesigned joomla.org page
    • Video interview requested, waiting for reply
    • He really liked the recommended Hosters page concept I showed to you last Board meeting. The sponsors page is nice to have but he has the same opinion as I that no one clicks on a sponsors page. So a link on the download page with the title “Recommended Hosters” should link to a filtered View of the Hosting sponsors and then with an intro text why it's important to choose the right hosting partner
  • Supporters Club Concept by Brian - can we start with this right away, it's similar to the concept I showed at one of the first board meetings and I think we should start asap.

Other business
