Transition Process

The Joomla! Transition Team started the transition process, driving the Joomla! Community to the new model and structure. All the teams arranged call for nominations and elections to elect Team Leaders and Assistant Team Leaders. PLT (as CLT and OSM) will be dissolved at the end of the Transition and will be replaced by the Production Department. All teams currently under the PLT responsibility will fall under the new Production Department.

Accessibility Team

This team has been moved as subteam of the User Experience (UX) Team after a PLT vote.

Automated Testing Working Group

Yves Hoppe has been elected Team Leader. Javier Gomez will serve as Assistant Team Leader. Team cleaned up the volunteers list on the JVP and moved inactive people to the Honour Roll.

Bug Squad

Niels Braczek has been elected Team Leader. Demis Palma will serve as Assistant Team Leader.

CMS Maintenance Team

Luca will arrange a call for nomination to elect a Team Leader and then an Assistant for this team.

CMS Release Team

PLT will get in touch with this team and will arrange a call for nomination to elect a Team Leader and then an Assistant for this team.

Core Translation Team

Ilagnayeru (MIG) Manickam has been confirmed as Team Leader. This team will continue working as a “Translation Coordination Team”, helping localisation teams to translate the CMS and create language packs.

Documentation Team

Sandra Thevenet has been elected as Team Leader. Assistant and additional roles will be filled as soon as possible.

en-GB User Interface Text Working Group

Brian Teeman is the Team Leader. Assistant will be announced soon.

Framework Team

George Wilson will serve as Team Leader. Assistant and additional roles will be filled as soon as possible.

Joomla! X Working Group

Marco Dings will serve as Team Leader. Assistant is Niels Braczec

Security Strike Team (JSST)

After the resignation of Viktor, Michael Babker took the lead of the team. Assistant and additional roles will be filled as soon as possible.

SQL Optimization Working Group

Javier will get in touch with this Team in order to get further information about the progress of the election process.

User Experience (UX) Team

Cliff Pfeifer will lead the UX Team. Further discussions came up about the team structure and about the creation of some subteams. A Design Team will be created as subteam of the UX Team as soon as the transition will be completed.

Web Services Team

Chris will get in touch with this Team in order to get further information about the progress of the election process. This team is in a standby phase, because some changes to the core are needed before to add the Web Services layer that has been already designed.

Budget update (Robert)

For 2016, as of November 30, we are at 65% of budget expenses.

Google Summer of Code Projects (Javier, Roland)

PLT voted and approved merging of the following GSoC projects:

  • Improving menu item workflow in Joomla!

  • Shareable drafted content

  • Improved Multilingual

Roland is following the Shareable Drafted Content PR and he’s working to fix the “itemid” issue in order to show a “real-life” appearance of the content, including the modules and other stuff, multilingual issues have been fixed.

Joomla! 3.7 (George)

CMS Release Team published a roadmap for Joomla! 3.7 that is also the staging branch of the CMS now on Github. 3.7 Roadmap is available at: https://www.joomla.org/announcements/release-news/5692-road-to-joomla-3-7.html

Reports from Automated Testing (Javier)

The team has been focused on preparing the code sprint that will take place in Munich between the 9th and the 11th of december 2016. The results will be published in the Joomla! Magazine.

“No code attached” reports (Roland)

The issue tracker has a bulk of issues that has no code attached. In the future, Bug Squad Team should do something about that. Either close them or do a code sprint or something to get them resolved.

CREDITS file out of date (Luca)

As previously announced, PLT removed out of date content from the CREDITS file and moved all the contributors list to a dedicated page in the Joomla! Documentation.

Pizza Bugs and Fun NL (Roland)

25 people attended the event in the Netherlands and pushed a lot of tests and comments to existing PRs and issues on the tracker. Due to the success of the initiative, Roland will organize several PBFs in the Netherlands next year.

Out of date Language Packs (Luca)

Core Translation Team started moving packages to Crowdin and Roland is working with Thomas Hunziker to move sync scripts to a Project’s server.

Weblinks component (Chris)

Weblinks 3.6.0-beta has been released.  Another beta or RC will follow soon.
