Joomla Operations Department Meeting

Minutes:

Operations Department Coordinator

Peter updated the group with regards to the board meeting on April 13th 2017. Requirements for bi-weekly reports is now the responsibility of the Department Coordinators.Teams are encouraged to provide monthly reports on the Volunteers Portal and to meet on a regular basis that fits with the team.

Extensions Directory Team

Jaz had queries about the frequency of meetings, which were covered by Peter at the beginning of the meeting. Jaz also had queries about how to get budget. Peter and Rowan will be working on this in the next few days.

Forum Team

Forum does not have meetings but daily communication about operational issues. Forum team will try to publish monthly about more operational information & statistics. Test with sponsored boards was a success, but the company that sponsored was taken over by GoDaddy & all expenses were put on hold.

Template Directory Team

This project will begin to take shape in May with a formal document in place before JAB. A possible Make it Happen session at JAB to brainstorm ideas with the community. Build will start in June.

Volunteers Portal Team

Volunteers Portal now fully match the requirements of the OSM By-Laws (that requires members to add their mailing address). Help Wanted page is now available to provide a complete overview of all open positions: https://volunteers.joomla.org/help-wanted 

Other Business

Rowan brought up the initiative to have more consistency across project websites. This includes both how the sites are built and how they are displayed, especially regarding imagery. We have fantastic image templates available and access to 123RF for stock imagery. A full webmaster’s manual is being produced and will hopefully be completed at JAB.

Peter suggested that teams should submit Magazine Articles regularly to both boost the profile of their teams and provide the magazine with more content.
