Documentation Team (Herman Peeren)

We are working in 4 sub-teams now:

    1. Requirements: finishing common understanding of our list and prioritising them.

    2. Structure: exploring possibilities of diátaxis (see below) and defining target groups within the “users documentation” (like site builders, site maintainers and content providers).

    3. Core Only prototype: first focus on structured input of contributions, both new contributions and revised existing content. Those contributions will be managed by editors and made available in different formats.

    4. Fix some of the worst obsolete parts of JDocs (docs.joomla.org)

The diátaxis approach for documentation we are exploring and experimenting with is based on the division of documentation in 4 parts:
Tutorials, how-to guides, reference and explanation. It is used in documentation of several open source projects (e.g. Django, Ubuntu Core). The inventor of this system is available for workshops and presentations (contacting him). Will be writing an article about the possibilities for our documentation in the next JCM.

We have some new people helping with the documentation.

 OTHER BUSINESS

sheperd.js (Guided Tours) has changed License conditions.  Also the need to keep an eye on vendor updates so that no update to Shepherd be made, since new updates are under new licensing. Maybe there is a need for an alternative.
