Dawn Russell

Brattleboro, United States

Dawn Russell formed Artisan Web and Print, located in downtown Brattleboro Vermont, in 2010 after completing graduate studies in Web Development at Marlboro Graduate School. She trained extensively with author and Joomla! expert Barrie North for two years before taking over his small hosting company and customer base at My Artisan Web (formerly Simplweb). Her skills in design were cultivated during her Master's program at SUNY New Paltz in Fine Art where she took every opportunity to visit museums and design houses in New York City. It was during this time that she refined her eye, aesthetic and love for design and art. Her combination of design, business savvy, and technological knowledge provides a unique blend for her clients.

I became involved with Joomla! as a volunteer after attending my first Joomla! Day in New England. I was blown away by the sense of community, the humor, and the knowledge that was being exchanged. My first volunteer contribution was to participate in the preparation of the next two Joomla Day New England conferences. After that I joined forces with the Joomla! Resources Directory where I started as a manager of the community involvement aspect of approvals. Soon, I was nominated to be the team leader for the group and I currently oversee the coordination of meetings, mediation among team members and long term planning. In 2014, I was awarded the JET grant and attended my second world conference in beautiful Cancun, Mexico. I am extremely grateful for the people I have met as a Joomler, many of whom are becoming true friends. This community has inspired me in so many ways and my heart is full from the experience.
