3rd Meeting Joomla GSoC 2016
Date: 14th June
Time: 1600 GMT
Attended by: Al Walker, Llewellyn van der Merwe, Mohamed Karam
Review of recent work taken place, where Mohamed has spent the past few days learning about developing components. Being new to Joomla it is his greatest challenge understanding the approach and environment. Most of the learning is taken place from his analysis of the Core framework and this week from the book “learning joomla extension development”.
With Mohamed having exams for the first few weeks of coding, things got off to a slow start but we are now making good progress on the project and are in regular discussion via Glip. Mohamed has confirmed he has completed the Plugin and it is available for testing which will Llewellyn will be testing soon. He is moving onto the Component work tomorrow and hopes to have a basic raw output view in place by this weekend.
Llewellyn reminded him that the component will extend the default Joomla libraries and classes so to look at these for examples of further learning.
Mohamed had questions surrounding the format of the extension which were answered during the call. He also wondered weather the logs he was capturing provided enough complexity, and it has been suggested to stick to the original plan and implement a solid working structure before looking to expand with further features.
NEXT MEETING: will take place in 1 week (21st June) where all 3 are schedulled again to attend.
