JRD 2016 - The Road Ahead
Dawn Russell, the Joomla community owes you a debt of gratitude. It has been a pleasure watching you lead the JRD team through a major reinvention and then redesign of the site at http://resources.joomla.org.
As with all things Joomla, I know the work on these endeavors has been a team effort. However, these accomplishments are brought to fruition through a leader that brings consensus around vision and a willingness to roll up her sleeves to chip in on the hard work. I look forward to your ongoing achievements within the Joomla community.
Through a series of conversations in March and April within the JRD team, I am honored to step into the team leader position vacated by Dawn.
What follows is an update that is really a quick summary of the last two JRD team meetings.
April 6, 2016
Chris, Søren, and I had a chance to recap recent milestones and begin the process of brainstorming next steps for the JRD.
April 20, 2016
Today’s meeting included Deb, me, and Chris. There have been some significant accomplishments on the JRD in the past year. We are afforded the chance to step back and evaluate our roadmap moving forward. As we pull the team together for the next leg of the journey we are asking ourselves three key questions, each with its own subset of implications…
- Who is on board?
- Whom do we serve?
- How can we best serve them through the JRD into the future?
There are likely some easy surface level answers to these questions. Our hope is to probe a little deeper so that we are sure to have clearly defined objectives and an assessment of the skills on the team ready to achieve them.
It is an exciting time. We have a solid core of long standing volunteers ready to lead the charge. We are definitely open to new team members coming forward to share in the vision. We anticipate the need for translators, technical support for site visitors, copy writers, and you! If you have been looking for a time and place to contribute to Joomla, please drop us a ticket at the JRD and be sure to choose “volunteer” as the department. Tell us a little about yourself and your interests. We would love to hear from you.
