Joomla World Conference Team: Organisation

Team shared details about the JWC 2026, in October in Potsdam / Germany:
Location:Conference hotel in Potsdam, Germany Located approximately 30 minutes from Berlin Airport and the main train station. The surroundings provide ideal conditions for focused work, meaningful exchange, and networking, while remaining easily accessible for international attendees.

  • Date:October 2026 16 -18 The main conference program will take place from Friday to Sunday. Optional sprints and workshops will be offered on Thursday.
  • Capacity: Designed for up to 250 participants.
  • Focus: The event is aimed at an international Joomla community of developers, integrators, agencies, freelancers, and decision-makers. The focus is on knowledge sharing, best practices, personal exchange, and strengthening the community in a sustainable way.
  • On-site Services: Participation includes access to the conference facilities, catering during the event, as well as all technical and organizational services provided by the venue.
  • Website: The official website is close to completion and is being built with Joomla (Cassiopeia template).
  • Community: Voices Initial testimonials, including one from Brian Teeman, have already been secured and underline the relevance and quality of the event.
  • Next Steps:
    • Call for Speakers launching soon (People outside and also within the community)
    • Sponsorship program in preparation
    • Further program details will be announced shortly

Treasurer

  • Pizza, Bugs and Fun Handling of potential fraud cases related to reimbursements was discussed.
  • JCW Contract Open questions were addressed by Robert Deutz.
  • Venable Proposal of a 10% fee reduction and a non-billable Zoom meeting was presented. Emmanuel Lemor and Angie Radtke plan to attend.
  • Skype Number Further need is being reviewed.
  • TAX1099 Topic addressed; documents are stored in the Z-Report folder.
  • Bank Account Due to limited access, a transitional solution for account access was proposed. Nadja Lamisch will assist the Treasurer in accessing bank accounts and provide the Treasurer with the necessary financial documents. 

Production Department

  • Google Summer of Code Joomla! applied again for GSoC.
  • Project website updated:Thanks to Christiane Maier-Stadtherr and Benjamin Trenkle. (results February 19)
  • Joomla 8 Sprint Feature status reviewed last week. List to be published soon; blog post planned. >POW Captcha and Automated Redirects already merged in 6.1.
  • Team Goals 2026
    • AI guidelines under development for code contributions
    • Better coordination of meetings

Vice President

  • FOSDEM Emmanuel Lemor spoke enthusiastically about his participation in FOSDEM, where he was able to make valuable contacts.
  • Scalahosting
    • The situation with Scalahosting should be clarified.
    • Emmanuel Lemor will contact Scala Hosting for a final discussion.
  • Offer of Legal Counsel
    • John Robertson has offered his support.
    • An offer from him is necessary so that the terms and conditions can be reviewed.
  • Open Source Conferences Joomla! would like to participate in UN Open Source Week and CMS Open Source Week.
  • Sovereign Tech Fund
    • Emmanuel Lemor met in person with someone responsible for allocating funds and would like to speak with this person again.
    • Angie Radtke reports that, due to the German federal government's provisional budget following the 2025 elections and many applications, the Sovereign Tech Fund is currently unable to review the “Joomla! Core Accessibility Modernization” application submitted on October 25 as usual and will provide further information later in the year.

Secretary

  • Board Elections Low number of applications for the vacant board positions. Application deadline: February 16. It is discussed to address more people personally.
  • Capacity of People, Public Image & Website Project
    • Angie Radtke emphasizes the need for clear priorities due to the board’s limited capacity.
    • Presentation of improvements to public presence and the prototype for the volunteers portal currently in development.
    • Time available in the meeting is limited.

Motions taken during this meeting

  • #2026/004 Nadja Lamisch will assist the Treasurer in accessing bank accounts and provide the Treasurer with the necessary financial documents. Motion Proposed by: Ufuk Avcu,, Seconded by: Emmanuel Lemor. Unanimously passed. The motion passed with unanimous consent.
  • #2026/005 Approve small budget for upgrade to magazine blog/sprint. Proposed by Richard Gosler. Seconded by Sigrid Gramlinger. The motion passed with unanimous consent.
