Specific Feedback to Note:

  • Multi selection option - Missing in Action in Survey

  • I don't want a bunch of filters and crap bunging up my install. If I want to do effects that is why I have Photoshop.

  • I agree that all preparation of images would be done externally in Photoshop. My only reservation could be that an optional 'Optimise images on upload' in terms of file size/quality (and maybe format, converting them to webP) would be very useful.

  • Does the media manager resize images on upload yet? there is no need for an image to be 3000px x 5000px in size when it only needs to be, say 900px by 600px. I use JFUploader now but it would be nice if the resize was part of the Joomla Media Manager

  • Responsive Images - One upload multiple output

  • Keep in Mind that Media Manager handles all media (audio, images, docs, and video) - how to take this to the next level.

  • Fresh Ideas - cutting edge thought and reinventing the whole portal.

Target milestone

Should we change our target release for milestone 1 to Joomla 4.0?

Pros

  • Use of BS4

  • Would make J4 more interesting, it will then have a new feature

  • No hack for IE 8 compatibility

  • Won’t need to ship 3.8 with two versions to be compatible with IE8.

Cons

  • Who knows when J4 will come out, it’s in early formative stages

  • Delay of important features like Crop and Resize and Better Image View

  • Having one milestone makes a difficult project management scenario

Marco came up with the idea to move to J 4.0-dev branch and having in mind to make a package which can be installed on 3.8. All attendees agreed on that approach.

Vue.js

What needs to be done for the proposal of the vue.js approach for the “Production Team Leaders”?

Status on projects:

  • Drag & Drop Upload - Dimitris

    • Branch for upload is done

    • State update needs to be done

    • Progress is done

  • Reworked edit view with action plugins (Photo editor) - Yves

  • Reworked List view and file browser - David

    • Basis is done for tree and list view

  • Controller like Rest endpoints - Allon

    • Basic stuff for GET, POST, PUT, DELETE is done
