Onboarding & Access

In January 2025, DC Production Sigrid Gramlinger held a helpful onboarding session covering key technical procedures. Treasurer Nadja Lamisch also provided valuable input following board meetings. Gaining access to critical accounts and editable social media files remained a challenge initially, but access was eventually secured for the social media Google account and Google Analytics reports. In addition the system of the google drive became more clearly understood.

Social Media Team

The team has significantly declined. Former TL Alison Meeks resigned after facing inappropriate community comments, marking a considerable loss. No new volunteers have stepped forward to handle content creation, engagement, or graphic editing. Internal content flow remains slow, limiting post availability.

Marketing Team

Further reduced in numbers, the team is overburdened with tasks like:

  • Updating website content

  • Editing Wikipedia pages

  • Managing robots.txt for outdated pages

  • Creating content and press releases

  • Updating the Joomla Shop

  • Maintaining the Press section

  • Reporting analytics

  • Performing SEO audits

The Way Forward

Events Team

Joomla events are vital for community-building and increasing public visibility. Future plans include:

  • Collaborating with local and tech media for coverage

  • Issuing press releases

  • Inviting local companies and media reps

  • Making parts of events public to attract interest

Marketing, Social Media, Optimization Teams


To reduce manual workload, automation options like the Open Source software Mautic are under consideration. However, installation requires server access and technical support. A private test or inter-team collaboration is being explored.

The cost of Hootsuite has increased. TL Marketing and DC Outreach agreed to trial alternatives before the current subscription ends.

Contributors with skills in graphic or video editing, SEO, data analytics, and copywriting are urgently needed to strengthen and scale our marketing efforts.

Graphic Design Resources

  • The Adobe Suite license was renewed at a discount and is now used solely by Sandra Decoux; one more user slot is available.

  • A Canva license is held by former DC Outreach Louise Hawkins and TL Marketing Tom van der Laan.
    These tools should be made available to the Social Media Team when needed.

  • Contributors with skills in graphic editing are urgently needed to strengthen and scale our marketing efforts.

Team Lead Elections

Terms for all TLs will be reviewed with the Secretary. Calls for elections will be issued where terms are expiring.

The way forward

Teams will be formed to prepare for 20 years Joomla and the launch of Joomla 6

Statistics

In 2024, 67 events were listed on the Joomla Events Calendar:

  • 25 "Ask OSM Anything" sessions

  • 25 JUG meetings

  • 17 Joomla Days and other events

 Online JUG sessions and events were promoted via social media. Hootsuite stats (PDF printouts) were sent to the President. The current subscription level doesn’t allow editable exports.

Google Analytics provides monthly summaries, but a good reporting tool is needed to consolidate data effectively.
