Certification Program: team meeting - March 17th, 2021
The JCP March monthly team meeting was held on March 17th, 2021 at 18:00 (UTC) using Google Meet.
Attendees:Chris Keen (TL), Jeroen Moolenschot
Absent with apologies: Luca Marzo, Andrea Gentil (ATL)
Guest: Jaz Parkyn (Dept. Co-ordinator) - not present
The team discussed the following topics (documents / proposals)
Andrea Gentil has decided to withdraw from the JCP due to personal reasons. Andrea has been a member of the JCP team since 2016 and has been Assistant Team Leader for the last two years, and was responsible for coordinating the Operations and Marketing tasks and processes.
We would like to thank Andrea for all her time and work for the JCP and the community over the last few years.
We are now working with Andrea to ensure a full handover of tasks and processes. Once this has been completed we will then begin recruiting new members for the JCP to fulfil this role.
Operations and Marketing
There are no updates from the Operations and Marketint team (mainly due to the lack of exams).
We have now published a blog post 'The COVID-19 pandemic and its effect on the Joomla Certification Program' on the Certification site. This post explains the current situation regarding certification exams. We have also posted a second blog expalining why we do not offer 'online' exams 'Online exams - why does Joomla not offer online exams?.
Website and Exam platform
Shika: (new exam platform):
Jeroen has been testing the new exam platform according to the test plan. Any issues are being discussed and tackled when found. At this point in time we have not found any 'show stoppers' and hopefully will be able to implement and be able to use the platform by the end of May 2021.
J!3 exam update
We are now preparing to update the J!3 Adminstrator exam to Joomla v 3.10. By doing this, firstly, we can still support candidates who went to certify for J!3, which will still be supported for two years. Secondly the updated J!3 exam will be used as the base for the J!4 version of the exam. Thirdly, we can use the updated J!3 exam to 'test' the new exam platform (Shika) in preparation for offering the J!4 version, and eventually other exams.
We are currently working on a 'system' to be able to review and update any outdated Questions and Answers (Q&A's) and add new Q&A's for new functionality.
We have also recruited two Exam Maintainers who will help us update the J!3 version of the exam and then work on the J!4 version.
