The UXD Study working group is a team of community volunteers supporting a collaborative research initiative between the Joomla Project and the Rutgers University Master of Business and Science (MBS) Program.

Our Mission:

To facilitate and support professional user experience research on the Joomla properties under study, ensuring the study produces meaningful, actionable insights that reflect the needs of the Joomla community.

Methodologie

Graduate students specializing in User Experience Design are conducting a comprehensive study of the site under study as part of their practicum course. Their research focuses on:

  • Information Architecture: How content is organized, labeled, and navigated
  • Contextual Inquiry: Observing how users interact with the directory in real-world scenarios
  • Usability Testing: Identifying friction points and areas for improvement
  • Overall User Experience: Evaluating the complete journey from search to selection

Our Role:

As a working group, we serve as the community bridge for this research. We help promote participation opportunities, assist with recruiting diverse test participants, provide context about the Joomla ecosystem to the research team, and help translate findings into concrete recommendations for the team managing the site under study.

Why Participation Matters:

The success of this research depends on authentic input from the full spectrum of Joomla users. We are actively seeking participation from:

  • Joomla community members at all experience levels
  • Website owners and customers who manage Joomla sites
  • Web integrators, developers, and agencies who evaluate extensions for clients
